These risk factors have been categorized as "risk factors that can't be changed" and "risk factors you can modify, treat or control by changing your lifestyle or taking medicine".
According to the American Heart Association the risk factors that you can modify,treat or control are: tobacco smoke, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, physical inactivity, obesity and overweight and diabetes mellitus.
